One of our Senior Marshals describes his life with Delta Force Paintball below.

Work History: An Australian trades assistant who chose to make a career change.

“After school I went to work for a friend of my dad’s as a plasterer’s labourer. It was hard work and often very long days. I enjoyed it to a point though, and by the time I was 20 I was working for several contractors on building sites around the Melbourne area which kept me busy. For my 21st birthday a bunch of mates shouted me a day of paintball with Delta Force. Loved it. Really good fun. What impressed me though was how the whole day was organised and run by the staff at the paintball centre. By the afternoon I was asking questions about working there as the marshals all seemed to be really enjoying themselves. By the end of the day I decided to apply for a casual job as a marshal to see what I thought. Best decision I’ve made in a long time!

Within about half a year I was only working as labourer 2 days a week and was getting plenty of hours at the paintball centre. You’d think all you do is run around on the paintball fields and clean up but being a marshal with Delta Force is so much more than that. I was keen to learn and was soon doing various service and maintenance on equipment as well as running paintball games. When an opportunity to become an assistant Centre Manger was offered I jumped at the chance and took the transfer to Brisbane where I stayed for around 9 months. Amazing how different working at another Delta Force Paintball centre can be. I enjoyed that change which helped me take the next step.

I was asked if I would fly to Canada for a few weeks and help finish building a new Delta Force centre over there, and stay on to help the new Centre Manger get through the first few months of operation. Gold! How good was this? Flown to Canada for work! I couldn’t believe it. That was about 18 months ago now and I’m still here and staying. I’m happy to be here and Delta Force is happy to have me here. Sometimes taking a chance works out and leaving the back breaking world of construction labour to be a paintball marshal turned out to be a great decision for me.  I love meeting new people every day and seeing their gratitude when I help them have the best time of their lives playing paintball. One day I might want to move on but it won’t be anytime soon.”
